The Importance of Raising Awareness About Linguistics Discrimination in Standard American and British English
The purpose of this academic project is to encourage students to learn more about different varieties of English as well as makes them understand the importance of raising awareness about the topic of linguisitic discrimination in an academic environment.
OBJECTIVES
Raise awareness about linguistic discrimination
Raise awareness about the importance of learning different dialects and learning from them to enrich our cultural knowledge
Linguistic discrimination, is hate or dislikes towards a particular language or variation of language and is due to the use of characteristics of speech. For example, language, accent, vocabulary, modality, and syntax. This type of discrimination could lead people to have judgments towards another person without even knowing them in terms of social status, wealth, education, character, etc, and linguistic discrimination makes people be mean to others just because of the way they speak.

Have you ever been judged for your dialect or accent in any specific situation, such as work, academic, or social environment?

2. What do you think about the attitude of the seller towards the customer?
3. How would you react or feel in that situation as a customer?
